QHow does coaching work? Is it face to face, on the phone, etc? Is it just one-to-one or do you do group coaching too?
AThe sessions are usually face to face, with optional telephone sessions or email back up in between.
We don't do group coaching, but we do offer a group Team Build day for partnership or other teams, where we help you discover your own and each other's values, and formulate a shared set of values that works for all of you.
QHow much commitment do I have to make to the coaching?
AIt is really up to you. For business coaching, a course of sessions is usually recommended, to help make significant changes for the business. However, there are other options (see link below)
With personal/ life coaching, if you want to make significant changes, a course of structured sessions is advisable. However, if you just want one session to discuss a big decision or deal with a phobia, that is fine.

Coaching helps you focus on things that are really important to you.
QI can't find time to do my client work, eat and do my washing. How can I find time for coaching?
AI think we all feel like that at times! Although it does take some initial time commitment, coaching usually leaves you feeling as if you have more time because it helps you focus on things that are really important to you. You spend less time on things that don't really matter to you but which you were perhaps doing because you felt you should, without really analyzing why.
Your behaviour is dictated by your thoughts, feelings, beliefs and values.
QHow could just talking to someone help with real problems?
ABecause the only way to solve your problems is through your behaviour, and your behaviour is dictated by your thoughts and feelings, your beliefs and values, and your sense of who you are and what you can do. These things can be changed by the coach's questioning and other techniques.

There is always a choice, even if it is just how to feel about a situation.
QAll my problems are outside my control, so what's the point of coaching?
AIt may feel as if you have no control, but there are always choices in what you do. Your unconscious mind may be making these choices without asking your permission, leaving you feeling helpless. Coaching can really help if you feel like this, as it brings these unconscious choices into your conscious awareness, putting you back in control.
Obviously some people have to contend with desperately difficult situations, and coaching can't work miracles. But it can help you take those small steps that enable you to improve your situation in the future.
QWhat's the difference between Executive, Business and Personal/ Life coaching?
AThey have a lot in common, but the way we define it is:
Executive Coaching is focused on improving an individual's performance at work and is paid for by the individual's employer, although it is often initiated by a request from the individual who would like coaching. Depending on the employer's remit, this may have more in common with personal/ life coaching or with business coaching.
Business Coaching is focused on improving the performance of a business or department, and is paid for by the business.
Personal/ life coaching is focused on helping an individual improve any aspect of their life. This may include work, health, relationships or anything else the individual wants to work on. This form of coaching is paid for by the individual.
QCan I speak to someone who's had coaching?
AYes, of course. Get in touch with us and we will arrange for you to speak to someone we have coached.
