Although it is not essential that a coach has a detailed knowledge of the work you do, an understanding of the problems you are facing can be very helpful and will mean you spend much less time simply explaining background details.

For personal and life coaching, we again specialize in working with professionals. The challenges you face in balancing your work and home life are very different from those faced by people who do a more "9 to 5" job, and it really helps if your coach understands this.

As mentioned in People, Roz Watkins, the founder and managing director of Templeton Finn, worked as a UK and European Patent Attorney for fourteen years and was a partner in a leading Midlands Intellectual Property firm for seven years, taking on a managing partner role in the latter years. She is therefore well able to understand the particular challenges and pressures you face. Our associate coaches include people who have worked in professional service firms and who have run their own businesses.

Roz and the associate coaches all have post graduate qualifications in business and personal coaching, plus NLP to at least Practitioner level.

Membership of Professional Organisations

Templeton Finn is a member of the Coaching Circle. This is a professional body which has a strict requirement that all member coaches have, or are working towards, a post graduate qualification in coaching. Additionally they all have regular supervision and continuing professional development and all have up-to-date professional liability insurance. The Coaching Circle has a strict code of ethics which ensures that all coaches know the limits of their expertise and consequently when to refer a client to their GP or to another professional.

Roz Watkins is also a member of the National Council of Psychotherapists and is bound by their rules of conduct.
